Issue
Which metrics in Adobe Analytics is the same as “New Users” in Google Analytics?
Solution
Adobe Analytics does not have the New Users metrics, but it can be obtained in some ways:
Segments
Adobe Analytics has these two segments built in:
- First Time Visits: first visit
- Return Visits: return visits
Its principle is that if the Visit Number is 1, it means the first visit, and if it is greater than 1, it means that it is a returning user.
Adding First Time Visits to Unique Visitors means New Users, and adding Return Visits to Unique Visitors means Return Users:
New Users + Return Users > Unique Visitors, this is because a user visits for the first time, resulting in two Visits, such as the first visit in the morning, and another visit in the afternoon
Visit Number
The principle of the previous method is that if the Visit Number is 1, it means the first visit, and if it is greater than 1, it means that it is a returning user.
You can use the Visit Number to create a Segment.
But it is more convenient to use Segment directly.
getNewRepeat plugin
Provided by the Adobe Consulting team, the getNewRepeat plugin allows you to determine whether a website visitor is a new visitor or a returning visitor within the desired number of days. Adobe recommends using this plugin if you want to use a custom number of days to identify visitors as “new”.
Summarize
Using Segment directly is the simplest and most common way.
