Issue

Some users may see the following warning message at the top of their GA4 property:

“Your Google Tag code isn’t configured correctly, which may soon prevent your property from measuring automatic events. To fix this, place your Google Tag configuration code in the correct location on all pages that measure events.”

Cause

According to feedback received from Google support, this warning appears to be related to a newly introduced feature in Google Tag Manager that was not properly detected by GA4.

As a result, GA4 may incorrectly assume that the Google Tag is missing or improperly installed, even though the implementation is actually working correctly.

Solution

At the moment, this appears to be a false warning triggered by Google’s detection logic.

If your tracking is working normally, you can safely ignore the message and wait for Google to roll out an official fix.
